HE WILL SAVE YOU Jun 26, 2008 4:44 am

Today's Scripture

“…Surely this is our God; we trusted in Him, and He saved us” (Isaiah 25:9).

Isn’t it good to know that you can trust God today? He is faithful, and He will save you! Save you from what? He’ll save you from anything that you need to be saved from! First and foremost, He’ll save you from the bondage of sin and death and give you eternal life. He’ll save you from fear. He’ll save you from the bondage of debt. He’ll save you from sickness and disease. When you open your heart to trust the Father by obeying His Word, the Bible says that He will save you from all the snares, or traps, of the enemy. If there’s something in your life that you need deliverance from, begin to declare that you trust God to save you. Sing a song of worship and declare His victory in your life today. As you step out and trust Him, He will bring His deliverance to you, and you will move forward into the life of freedom and victory the Lord has in store for you!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, today I choose to trust You. I know You are a faithful Deliverer. I cast all of my cares on You because I know You care for me. Thank You for saving me! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today's Scripture

"The Lord was with Joseph and extended kindness to him and gave him favor . . . and whatever he did, the Lord made to prosper." (Genesis 39:21,23)

Are you ever tempted to do something you know is wrong? Do you find yourself around people or circumstances that tempt you to compromise? You can do what many mature, strong, biblically sound Christian men and women do when they are faced with temptation ‒ RUN!!

Joseph did just that. He was taken to Egypt to serve as a slave in the household of Potiphar, captain of Pharaoh's bodyguards. When Potiphar's wife made advances toward Joseph, what did he do? What was his response to temptation? He ran away! He ran as fast and as far as he could. He left so quickly that Potiphar's wife was left with nothing but the shirt off his back.

Initially Joseph suffered his master's wrath because of this incident, but God honored him for taking a stand. Because of his uncompromising integrity, the Lord was with him.

You are a person of excellence and integrity, just like Joseph. When temptation comes, our response needs to be the same ‒ run from it. Get away from people who are pulling you down. Block the Internet sites you know you shouldn't visit. Turn off the television shows you know you shouldn't watch. Refuse to compromise. When you do, God's blessings and favor will be on you and your family, and like Joseph, you will prosper in whatever you do.

A Prayer for Today

God, when I am faced with temptation today, I will remember Joseph. You know what I struggle with. Rather than compromise, I will make You proud when I turn on my heels and head in the other direction. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Scripture

“Let my heart be sound (sincere and wholehearted and blameless) in Your statutes, that I may not be put to shame”
(Psalm 119:80)

Did you know the Word of God will protect you from shame and embarrassment? God's laws, or statutes, were established to guide and protect you. When you follow His Word, you can be sure that you are making clear, sound choices. You can be sure that you are making the very best decisions. The Bible calls the enemy the “accuser of the brethren.” That means he's trying to make you feel guilty, shameful, and condemned. He's trying to make you second guess yourself. But remember, the enemy is defeated. You are free from shame! The enemy has no legal power over you unless you open the door to him. Keep the door closed by submitting yourself to God and His Word. Ask the Lord to give you a whole and blameless heart to follow His commands. As you do, you will walk in His protection and guidance and live free from shame today!

A Prayer for Today

Father, thank You for Your Word which guides and protects me. Thank You for giving me the ability to make right choices according to Your Word. Give me a sincere and blameless heart that I may serve You all the days of my life. In Jesus' Name. Amen.

BE A PRISIONER OF HOPE Jun 23, 2008 5:33 am

Today's Scripture

"Return to your fortress, O prisoners of hope; even now I announce that I will restore double to you."

(Zechariah 9:12)

Natan Sharansky was imprisoned as an "enemy of the state" in the Soviet Gulag during the Cold War for disagreeing a little too openly with the Communist government. He was kept in solitary confinement, yet word would occasionally reach him of President Ronald Reagan's latest anticommunist speech. He would then tap out in Morse code a message to his fellow prisoners, encouraging them to stay faithful; that the end of their imprisonment was near. Before the Berlin Wall fell, Natan Sharansky believed. He saw it in his mind, believed it in his heart, and shared his faith with others.

Natan Sharansky was the kind of person that President Reagan, quoting the prophet Zechariah, called, a "prisoner of hope." He and many other political prisoners were freed during the collapse of the Soviet Empire and he was a guest of honor at President Reagan's funeral. His faith inspired presidents and prime ministers, and that is the kind of faith that our Heavenly Father rewards.

We want to let you know today that your release is near. Whatever prison you are in ‒ the prison of addiction, the prison of depression, the prison of loneliness ‒ no matter what is imprisoning you, your freedom is coming. Your best and brightest day is just ahead.

A Prayer for Today

God, You are my redeemer and my strength and, in times of trouble, I will share that hope with others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Scripture

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9 ).

Do you need God to move in your life today? The Bible says that God is actually looking to show Himself strong in the earth. He is looking for those who have a blameless heart toward Him. When you open your heart to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you by His blood, then He gives you a blameless heart–then you are the person the Lord is looking to work through! When you understand the fact that God longs to work in your life, your faith will increase. Your hope will increase. And God’s work in your life will increase! Have confidence in this scripture today. Begin to thank God for giving you a clean and blameless heart. Thank Him for choosing to work in your life. As you thank and praise Him, look for His goodness and strength in your life. As you do, you will see God move in unexpected ways today and every day!

A Prayer for Today

Heavenly Father, thank You for the blood of Jesus which cleanses my sins and gives me a blameless heart. Search my heart today and remove anything that isn’t pleasing to You. I open my heart to You and invite You to work in every area of my life. I bless You and thank You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus Name. Amen.

SAY IT OUT LOUD: GOD FAVORES ME! Jun 19, 2008 4:54 am

Today's Scripture

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit."
Proverbs 18:21)

You are a child of the Most High God. He has crowned you with glory and honor and because you are His child, God wants you to have preferential treatment. He wants you to be favored in this life. And the more favor-minded you are, the more of God's favor you are going to see.

Begin to expect God's best for your life today. Declare that you are highly favored and beloved of the Lord. The Bible tells us that the power of life and death are in our tongue. Begin today to speak words of life over your family, your relationships, your finances, and your job. Your words have creative power, and when you speak those words of faith and victory, you are bringing them to life. Speak God's favor and blessing over every area of your life. Then, when God does something good for you, thank Him for it!

If you will do your part and live each day consistently declaring God's favor and expecting His goodness, God will do His part. He will make His face shine upon you and you will live the life of abundance that He has in store for you.

A Prayer for Today

God, bless me today with your favor and your love. I pray out loud those blessings on me, my friends, and my family and believe in Your power. Thank you for the wonderful gift of Your love and strength and for all the blessings I enjoy today. In Jesus' name, Amen.

BE A LOVE LINGUIST Jun 18, 2008 4:21 am

Today's Scripture

"Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say." (John 8:43)

Most of us grow up learning the language of our parents. As we grow up we might learn additional languages, usually with much more effort. Regardless of how many languages we speak our native tongue is still the easiest to speak and understand.

It is the same way in our relationships. We tend to give others the same kind of love and attention that is most familiar to us yet we are surprised when they don't understand what we are trying to communicate.

To some, actions speak louder than words, so they show their love through acts of service. To others, gifts of appreciation make them feel loved, so they tend to show their love to others by finding just the right gift.

Each of us needs to learn to speak a variety of languages if we are to successfully communicate to those we care for the most. The more we speak in these languages, the more comfortable we feel and the more those around us understand. By immersing ourselves in our spouse or children's love language, the more likely they are to receive our love and appreciation in the way we truly want them to.

A Prayer for Today

God, I will learn a new language this week so the people I love will understand how I feel about them. Help me discern the best way to communicate my love to others. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Scripture

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matthew 28:19-20)

Cover The Earth...that's the title of our church's worship music project, but it's also the call of God on the life of every believer. In Matthew 28, Jesus commissions all of us to take His life-changing, encouraging message of hope and salvation to the nations of the world.

We have good news for you today: Through gifts and service to a church or ministries like ours you are fulfilling the Great Commission. Hundreds accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior in church. It's where marriages are renewed and families are strengthened.

We pray that you continue to cover the earth with the glory of God. Continue to wake up each day with great anticipation of how God will use you to touch the lives of your family and the people in your work place, school, and neighborhood.

A Prayer for Today

God, I will be an instrument of Your peace. I want to cover the earth with Your message of hope and I will do that through my church and through missions and ministry. When I pray and when I serve, remind me to think locally and globally! In Jesus' name, Amen

HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE Jun 16, 2008 1:59 am

Today's Scripture

"Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days." (Psalm 90:14)

If certain things in your life were just a little bit "better," would you be happy? A better job, a better house, better health, better relationships?

The truth is, it only takes one thing for you to be happy. It takes a made-up mind. That's right, you have to decide that you are going to be happy regardless of your situation. You may have some obstacles to overcome, but don't let that steal your joy. Begin each day thinking of all the things you have to be thankful for. Decide each morning to declare as David did, "This is the day the Lord has made, I'm going to rejoice, and be glad in it."

If you don't get happy where you are, you will never get to where God wants you to be. It all begins with a grateful attitude. Let us encourage you to be content no matter what your circumstances. When you do, God will take you from victory to victory and you'll live the abundant, joy-filled life He has in store for you. Try it this week and see the difference your "attitude of gratitude" will make in your life.

A Prayer for Today

God, I have decided to be happy. I choose joy! No matter what happens today, I will sing Your praises and focus on the good things in my life-and share my attitude of gratitude with others! In Jesus' name, Amen.

CHOOSE YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH CARE Jun 13, 2008 3:47 am

Today's Scripture

"When you walk with wise men, you will become wise, but a companion of fools will be destroyed." (Proverbs 13:20)

The quality of life is often determined by the quality of our relationships. Do you know that you will become like the people you associate with? If you constantly spend your time around lazy and undisciplined people, then before long, you're going to be lazy and undisciplined. But on the other hand, if you associate with successful people, then you're going to be successful. If you spend your time with people of vision, who are going places in life, you will be inspired to go further than you would on your own.

Take time to examine your friendships. Ask yourself, do I want to be like this person? Do I like their qualities? Do they inspire me to reach for new heights? As you choose to be around wise people, you will become wise too, and walk in the abundant life God has for you!

A Prayer for Today

God, I will choose my friends wisely. Open my eyes to the changes I need to make and give me the courage to distance myself from people that are dragging me down. Thank you for blessing me with wonderful Christian friends-may I be a blessing to them this day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
